WSDC Jack & Jill
Jack and Jill Competition
Jack & Jill contests allow individuals to enter without a partner and demonstrate skills in spontaneous dancing with a variety of partners. There is an inherent “luck of the draw” factor involved. Leaders and followers are randomly paired. There will be several partner changes during the preliminary and semi-final rounds. Competitors are scored individually on timing, technique and teamwork in preliminary heats. Those scoring the highest will be called back to dance in the next round. In the final round, individuals are randomly paired, then scored together as a couple. The DJ picks the music. Tempo and style will vary. All songs will be appropriate for the dance division entered. There are divisions for different skill levels (WSDC), divisions with age requirements and divisions open to all. There are strict entry deadlines.
Prize
The winners of each division will receive a full pass to other events, except in the Champion division, where the prize will be cash.
To participate in the competition, you must:

Good to know
- Multiple registrations are allowed. You may choose to enter any competitions for which you meet the specific entry requirements.
- We will check your eligibility using the WSDC Points Registry and other sources. If needed—such as after a petition or missing points—you may be moved to a different division.
- If you believe another dancer is in the wrong division, please inform the chief judge privately as soon as possible.
- If you’re found to be in the wrong division before or during the event, we’ll either reassign you or allow you to withdraw. If the mistake is found after finals, you and your partner may be removed from awards—unless the error was ours, in which case no penalty will apply.
- Competition registration, your assignment in divisions, rounds and heats, results of rounds will be published on Scoring.dance website. Check this site for all updates and last-minute changes.
- Scoring System: Contests are scored using tablets, computerized scoring software and relative placement.
- During competitions, marshalling is used to organize upcoming heats—check your heat number before the event and respond promptly to marshalling calls.
- Arrive ready to compete by being in the marshaling area at least 15 minutes before your event. If you do not check in you will be scratched and forfeit your entry fee.
- For all competitions, please dress in appropriate attire. Ensure your bib number is clearly visible to the judges.
- Missing your competition or withdrawing after the registration deadline will result in forfeiting your entry fee.
- Always demonstrate good sportsmanship, both on and off the competition floor. Treat your partners, fellow competitors, officials, spectators, and the event with respect.
